What better place to do Pilates than in a big airy studio with windows looking directly onto the Thames. We slide them open in the summer or even go outside onto the decking while kayakers and herons sweep past. I was advised by my doctor to do Pilates a few years ago for back pain. I wasn't very keen as I had tried it many years ago and found it difficult. However I signed up at my local college and Natalie was the teacher. She immediately made the class accessible to all levels and I actually found myself enjoying it. When she set up on her own, I followed and now have the divine pleasure of practicing Pilates on the legendary and quirky Eel Pie Island in Twickenham, origin of British Rhythm n Blues and home to an artist's colony. I feel so much better and it is part of my life. Natalie's careful teaching has improved my core strength and flexibility and is exactly what I need to continue an active life.
