UK reformer pilates has become the boutique norm
Of the 1,981 verified UK pilates studios in our directory, 100% offer reformer pilates. That's a structural shift from a decade ago, when mat-led studios dominated UK pilates outside London. The £25-45 price ceiling on London group reformer has held steady since 2023; regional metros have followed with a 12-month lag. Clinical pilates (6% of studios) and prenatal pilates (0%) remain specialised but growing, with London and Manchester leading the clinical density.
Below: the granular data, regional breakdowns and what we think it means for the next 18 months.
What UK studios actually offer
Distribution of service types across the 1,981 verified UK studios.
Mat pilates is the most-offered service (100%) — most reformer studios offer mat alongside, but pure mat-only studios still account for a meaningful share, particularly in regional UK cities and community-rate environments.

Cities with the most physio-led pilates
Top UK cities by share of pilates studios offering clinical (physio-led) pilates.
London and major UK metros consistently show higher clinical pilates density than regional cities — a function of denser physiotherapy practice networks, higher insurance reimbursement uptake, and concentration of HCPC-registered Chartered Physiotherapists in major urban centres.

Methodology
All figures in this report are computed live from our directory of 1,981 verified UK pilates studios as of 12 May 2026. Studio data is sourced from Google Places business listings, supplemented with editorial verification (services confirmed, qualifications cross-checked against professional bodies where available).
Ratings represent average member ratings across 54,597 verified Google reviews. Quality tier is a composite metric weighing rating, review depth, service breadth and listing completeness — not a paid placement.
Pricing ranges are aggregated from the studio cohort, representing typical low-to-high observed by region. They are not single-studio prices and shouldn't be quoted as such. For per-studio pricing, see individual listings in our directory.
