Salt Reformer Pilates Studio offers 2 pilates disciplines. Each one is suited to different goals — read the breakdown below to see which fits.
Reformer pilates is performed on a specialised piece of equipment using adjustable spring resistance. It targets deeper stabilising muscles than mat-based pilates and is widely used for posture correction, core strength, injury rehabilitation and pre/postnatal training.
Mat pilates uses your bodyweight on a padded mat, often with small props like resistance bands, blocks and pilates balls. It's the most accessible form of pilates — no heavy equipment, lower price points, and easier to continue at home.

2 of 3 recent reviews describe the studio atmosphere positively — recurring descriptors include "welcoming", "calming" and "no judgement". This kind of language pattern, particularly across multiple reviewers, tends to indicate a settled member community rather than a high-turnover commercial environment. If you're new to pilates and concerned about feeling out of place at your first class, this is the indicator most worth weighting. Google lists the studio as open before 7am on at least one weekday and until 8pm or later on another, which usually suits a 9-to-6 working day. Weekend opening is listed too. Opening hours are not the same as the class timetable — check the studio's own schedule before planning around a specific slot. Across UK boutiques, 07:00 and 18:00-19:30 are the busiest times.
Practice varies by studio, so confirm the format when you get in touch. As a general guide across UK boutique reformer studios: newcomers are usually pointed to a beginner-tagged class or a 1-1 introduction rather than a mixed-level group, arriving 10-15 minutes early is normal, and grip socks are widely required (some studios sell them for £8-15). Form-fitting clothing lets the instructor see your alignment. The first class is the steepest learning curve — by the third session the equipment feels far more intuitive.
