From the moment I entered the studio I felt really welcome. As a complete beginner I felt Aimee was incredibly accommodating and put me at ease showing me the reformer bed, and how to use it. The two classes I have been she has been amazing and ensuring I get into the positions correctly. And... I've felt it the next couple of days :-) it's absolutely addictive and can't wait to go back!
Amazing little studio with just the most gorgeous vibe the instructor was brilliant making sure to check in and politely adjust our form. I love all the mirrors and how light and clean feeling the room is. Also 6 beds is amazing as it doesn’t feel too cramped. Honestly can’t wait for my next class. I’ve been to a lot of studios worldwide but this is just perfect for our little city and I cannot wait for the cafe to open.
Society Pilates studio & Açaí café offers 2 pilates disciplines. Each one is suited to different goals — read the breakdown below to see which fits.
Reformer pilates is performed on a specialised piece of equipment using adjustable spring resistance. It targets deeper stabilising muscles than mat-based pilates and is widely used for posture correction, core strength, injury rehabilitation and pre/postnatal training.
Mat pilates uses your bodyweight on a padded mat, often with small props like resistance bands, blocks and pilates balls. It's the most accessible form of pilates — no heavy equipment, lower price points, and easier to continue at home.

Honest, specific answers about this studio.
one of the 3 recent reviews mention the instructors in positive terms — words such as "knowledgeable", "attentive" and "encouraging" recur most frequently. Members citing specific cues, form corrections or named instructors is a strong sign of relationship-led teaching rather than transactional class delivery. If instructor depth matters for your decision (particularly for clinical or prenatal-focused pilates), this is a useful positive signal. One recent member put it this way: "Robyn and Aimee are amazing instructors." — Madi Eastham.
Yes — the studio runs both pre-work classes (6am or earlier most days) and evening sessions running past 8pm, which together cover the standard 9-to-6 working day. Saturday and Sunday slots add weekend flexibility. For peak slots (07:00 and 18:00-19:30 are the busiest across most UK boutiques), most members book the week ahead.
Most UK boutique reformers start newcomers with a beginner-tagged class or a 1-1 intro session rather than dropping them into a mixed-level group. Arrive 10-15 minutes early; you'll be shown carriage adjustment, spring tension and basic safety. Wear grip socks (mandatory at most studios — they sell pairs for £8-15 if you don't have them) and form-fitting clothing that lets the instructor see your alignment. The first class is the steepest learning curve — by your third session, the equipment feels much more intuitive.
