A great new addition to Prestwich. A beautiful Reformer Pilates studio with a range of classes for all levels. The beginners flow class was brilliant, the instructor was knowledgeable and able to tailor the moves for the different abilities in the class. She explained how the beds work I made it all really simple so we could focus on enjoying the class. Can’t wait to do it again!
This was my ninth class at Release, and I’m genuinely obsessed. The studio is everything I hoped a Pilates space would be—beautiful, clean, and so thoughtfully designed. The instructors are warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. Every class leaves me feeling stronger, more confident, and like I’m truly progressing. I absolutely love it here!
release Reformer Pilates offers 2 pilates disciplines. Each one is suited to different goals — read the breakdown below to see which fits.
Reformer pilates is performed on a specialised piece of equipment using adjustable spring resistance. It targets deeper stabilising muscles than mat-based pilates and is widely used for posture correction, core strength, injury rehabilitation and pre/postnatal training.
Mat pilates uses your bodyweight on a padded mat, often with small props like resistance bands, blocks and pilates balls. It's the most accessible form of pilates — no heavy equipment, lower price points, and easier to continue at home.

Honest, specific answers about this studio.
2 of 3 recent reviews mention the instructors in positive terms — words such as "knowledgeable", "attentive" and "encouraging" recur most frequently. Members citing specific cues, form corrections or named instructors is a strong sign of relationship-led teaching rather than transactional class delivery. If instructor depth matters for your decision (particularly for clinical or prenatal-focused pilates), this is a useful positive signal. One recent member put it this way: "The beginners flow class was brilliant, the instructor was knowledgeable and able to tailor the moves for the different abilities in the class." — debbie Aspery.
Yes — the studio runs both pre-work classes (6am or earlier most days) and evening sessions running past 8pm, which together cover the standard 9-to-6 working day. Saturday and Sunday slots add weekend flexibility. For peak slots (07:00 and 18:00-19:30 are the busiest across most UK boutiques), most members book the week ahead.
Most UK boutique reformers start newcomers with a beginner-tagged class or a 1-1 intro session rather than dropping them into a mixed-level group. Arrive 10-15 minutes early; you'll be shown carriage adjustment, spring tension and basic safety. Wear grip socks (mandatory at most studios — they sell pairs for £8-15 if you don't have them) and form-fitting clothing that lets the instructor see your alignment. The first class is the steepest learning curve — by your third session, the equipment feels much more intuitive.
