I’ve been go to Garuda studio almost everyday for the last two weeks, it’s kind of becomes the most relaxing thing to start my day here. I am a total new beginner of Pilates, however the teachers in here always make me feel taken care of. It’s a great place for ab work, spine mobilisation and stretching, you can really feel yourself different after few classes. Perfect place!
Having tried out a number of fitness studios across London, I decided to stick to Garuda instantly after my trial period - because it is simply the best! The method itself is a unique blend of pilates and yoga with emphasis on flow, which can't be found anywhere else. Mat classes are my favourite - the sequences build up comfortably and gradually heats and opens up my body - effective without being intrusive. The quality of teacher is unmatchable - many have a professional dance practice and have taught there for years. I always feel taken care of. And the small class size and light studio are a plus.
The Garuda Pilates Studio offers 2 pilates disciplines. Each one is suited to different goals — read the breakdown below to see which fits.
Reformer pilates is performed on a specialised piece of equipment using adjustable spring resistance. It targets deeper stabilising muscles than mat-based pilates and is widely used for posture correction, core strength, injury rehabilitation and pre/postnatal training.
Mat pilates uses your bodyweight on a padded mat, often with small props like resistance bands, blocks and pilates balls. It's the most accessible form of pilates — no heavy equipment, lower price points, and easier to continue at home.

Honest, specific answers about this studio.
Most UK boutique reformers start newcomers with a beginner-tagged class or a 1-1 intro session rather than dropping them into a mixed-level group. Arrive 10-15 minutes early; you'll be shown carriage adjustment, spring tension and basic safety. Wear grip socks (mandatory at most studios — they sell pairs for £8-15 if you don't have them) and form-fitting clothing that lets the instructor see your alignment. The first class is the steepest learning curve — by your third session, the equipment feels much more intuitive.
