Had my first trial class today absolutely loved everything minute of it. The atmosphere was welcoming. My instructor gave me a walk through before the class started. The environment was spotless, even providing an outlet for me to charge my phone. I was nervous during the class as I’ve got very stiff joints and I was unable to flex my muscles as freely as others in that class but I kept getting reassurance and encouragement from the introduction. Thank you so much BAYSE
Attended my first Pilates class at BAYSE Bolton yesterday and it was amazing. Eli talked me through how to use the Pilates bed and immediately made me feel at ease. I really enjoyed the class as a whole and can see myself attending regularly in the future💗🧘🏼♀️
Bayse Reformer Pilates Bolton offers 2 pilates disciplines. Each one is suited to different goals — read the breakdown below to see which fits.
Reformer pilates is performed on a specialised piece of equipment using adjustable spring resistance. It targets deeper stabilising muscles than mat-based pilates and is widely used for posture correction, core strength, injury rehabilitation and pre/postnatal training.
Mat pilates uses your bodyweight on a padded mat, often with small props like resistance bands, blocks and pilates balls. It's the most accessible form of pilates — no heavy equipment, lower price points, and easier to continue at home.

Honest, specific answers about this studio.
2 of 3 recent reviews describe the studio atmosphere positively — recurring descriptors include "welcoming", "calming" and "no judgement". This kind of language pattern, particularly across multiple reviewers, tends to indicate a settled member community rather than a high-turnover commercial environment. If you're new to pilates and concerned about feeling out of place at your first class, this is the indicator most worth weighting. One recent member put it this way: "Beautiful studio." — Mrs G Hawkesworth.
Yes — the studio runs both pre-work classes (6am or earlier most days) and evening sessions running past 8pm, which together cover the standard 9-to-6 working day. Saturday and Sunday slots add weekend flexibility. For peak slots (07:00 and 18:00-19:30 are the busiest across most UK boutiques), most members book the week ahead.
Most UK boutique reformers start newcomers with a beginner-tagged class or a 1-1 intro session rather than dropping them into a mixed-level group. Arrive 10-15 minutes early; you'll be shown carriage adjustment, spring tension and basic safety. Wear grip socks (mandatory at most studios — they sell pairs for £8-15 if you don't have them) and form-fitting clothing that lets the instructor see your alignment. The first class is the steepest learning curve — by your third session, the equipment feels much more intuitive.
