If you’re looking for a reformer class that is intimate, fun and pushes you in all the right ways then this is it. Lovely studio, lovely staff. Tash is fantastic! As a complete beginner the taster session was amazing to experience and off the back of that I booked 20 classes. Thank you so much!
Last Thursday I had my very first Reformer Pilates class with Lizzie. As a complete beginner, I was a little nervous, but Lizzie was absolutely fantastic. She explained everything so clearly, demonstrated each exercise and offered modifications that made the class effective for everyone. Her cues were spot-on, helping me understand how to engage the right muscles and get the most out of each movement. Lizzie created such a positive and encouraging atmosphere, and I left feeling stronger, more aware of my body, and genuinely excited for my next class. Highly recommend Lizzie for anyone new to Reformer Pilates – you're in great hands!
Reformer Pilates Bicester offers 2 pilates disciplines. Each one is suited to different goals — read the breakdown below to see which fits.
Reformer pilates is performed on a specialised piece of equipment using adjustable spring resistance. It targets deeper stabilising muscles than mat-based pilates and is widely used for posture correction, core strength, injury rehabilitation and pre/postnatal training.
Mat pilates uses your bodyweight on a padded mat, often with small props like resistance bands, blocks and pilates balls. It's the most accessible form of pilates — no heavy equipment, lower price points, and easier to continue at home.

Honest, specific answers about this studio.
one of the 3 recent reviews mention the instructors in positive terms — words such as "knowledgeable", "attentive" and "encouraging" recur most frequently. Members citing specific cues, form corrections or named instructors is a strong sign of relationship-led teaching rather than transactional class delivery. If instructor depth matters for your decision (particularly for clinical or prenatal-focused pilates), this is a useful positive signal. One recent member put it this way: "Lizzie created such a positive and encouraging atmosphere, and I left feeling stronger, more aware of my body, and genuinely excited for my next class." — jen Walton.
Practice varies by studio, so confirm the format when you get in touch. As a general guide across UK boutique reformer studios: newcomers are usually pointed to a beginner-tagged class or a 1-1 introduction rather than a mixed-level group, arriving 10-15 minutes early is normal, and grip socks are widely required (some studios sell them for £8-15). Form-fitting clothing lets the instructor see your alignment. The first class is the steepest learning curve — by the third session the equipment feels far more intuitive.
