What you can practice at AMB Physio Pilates
AMB Physio Pilates offers 3 pilates disciplines. Each one is suited to different goals — read the breakdown below to see which fits.
Reformer Pilates
Reformer pilates is performed on a specialised piece of equipment using adjustable spring resistance. It targets deeper stabilising muscles than mat-based pilates and is widely used for posture correction, core strength, injury rehabilitation and pre/postnatal training.
Mat Pilates
Mat pilates uses your bodyweight on a padded mat, often with small props like resistance bands, blocks and pilates balls. It's the most accessible form of pilates — no heavy equipment, lower price points, and easier to continue at home.
Clinical Pilates
Clinical pilates combines classical pilates with physiotherapy principles. Sessions are led by chartered physiotherapists or specialist pilates instructors who design individualised programmes based on detailed postural and movement assessment.

Can I claim AMB Physio Pilates clinical pilates sessions on private health insurance?
Insurance reimbursement for clinical pilates depends on three factors: (1) the lead practitioner must be HCPC-registered as a Chartered Physiotherapist — verify by asking the studio or checking the HCPC public register, (2) your policy must include a physiotherapy benefit, and (3) most insurers (Bupa, AXA Health, Vitality, WPA, Aviva) require either a GP referral or completion of their own self-refer pathway. Standard reformer or mat classes at the same studio are not reimbursable — only sessions led by a chartered physio with a clinical assessment qualify.
