I cannot recommend Alba Physiotherapy highly enough. I had been experiencing severe pain in both upper back and tailbone but following a detailed consultation, massage and exercises I feel much improved.

I cannot recommend Alba Physiotherapy highly enough. I had been experiencing severe pain in both upper back and tailbone but following a detailed consultation, massage and exercises I feel much improved.
We’ve been using Alba Veterinary Physio for a while now, and it’s done wonders for our bulldog Buddy, who has numerous issues with his hips and hind legs. The laser treatment and massage helps him relax, and the water treadmill has been wonderful for building up his leg muscles - within a few sessions he’d stopped falling over when he runs, and we now return for maintenance, to keep him his best self. More recently, our senior Frenchie has also started at Alba, and there was a marked improvement in her posture after just one session. She’s having sessions every 2 or 3 weeks now, to keep up the muscle tone in her hind legs, and help her overall conditioning. So much better than putting the dogs through surgery. Thank you!
Our dog Oakley has hip Dysplasia and was referred to Alba Physio. Joy has been amazing with him. He enjoys his massage and then he goes on the treadmill. We can’t believe what a difference it has made. No limping and we can take him out for proper walks now. Joy is so good at telling us what exercises to do at home and what equipment to use that we would have around the house.
Alba Physiotherapy & Pilates Ltd offers 3 pilates disciplines. Each one is suited to different goals — read the breakdown below to see which fits.
Clinical pilates combines classical pilates with physiotherapy principles. Sessions are led by chartered physiotherapists or specialist pilates instructors who design individualised programmes based on detailed postural and movement assessment.
Reformer pilates is performed on a specialised piece of equipment using adjustable spring resistance. It targets deeper stabilising muscles than mat-based pilates and is widely used for posture correction, core strength, injury rehabilitation and pre/postnatal training.
Mat pilates uses your bodyweight on a padded mat, often with small props like resistance bands, blocks and pilates balls. It's the most accessible form of pilates — no heavy equipment, lower price points, and easier to continue at home.

Honest, specific answers about this studio.
one of the 3 recent reviews mention clinical, physio or rehabilitation contexts — back pain recovery, post-surgery return-to-movement, and chronic condition management appear as recurring themes. If you're seeking pilates as part of a rehab pathway, this is a meaningful positive signal. Confirm directly with the studio whether the lead practitioner is HCPC-registered (Chartered Physiotherapist) before booking, since insurance reimbursement specifically requires this credential. One recent member put it this way: "I cannot recommend Alba Physiotherapy highly enough." — Bonnie McColl.
Insurance reimbursement for clinical pilates depends on three factors: (1) the lead practitioner must be HCPC-registered as a Chartered Physiotherapist — verify by asking the studio or checking the HCPC public register, (2) your policy must include a physiotherapy benefit, and (3) most insurers (Bupa, AXA Health, Vitality, WPA, Aviva) require either a GP referral or completion of their own self-refer pathway. Standard reformer or mat classes at the same studio are not reimbursable — only sessions led by a chartered physio with a clinical assessment qualify.
