I very much much I enjoy Andy's Pilates classes; his interest in people and his genuine care shines through, as he adapt his classes and advice to different peoples needs. He is always looking to learn new things, which keeps what he teach fresh. The classes have helped me stay supple, as I turned 60 this year, and give me techniques to deal with my back pain. "Well done Leith Pilates!" We Brits don't say often enough!
Leith Pilates has been hugely helpful dealing with issues associated with my hyper mobility. Their ability to quickly switch to live online classes in lockdown meant that I didn’t suffer ill effects from reduced mobility working from home and the flexibility between online and studio classes really helped me maintain a class routine. Pilates teaches you skills for life and I always recommend this studio.
Leith Pilates offers 2 pilates disciplines. Each one is suited to different goals — read the breakdown below to see which fits.
Reformer pilates is performed on a specialised piece of equipment using adjustable spring resistance. It targets deeper stabilising muscles than mat-based pilates and is widely used for posture correction, core strength, injury rehabilitation and pre/postnatal training.
Mat pilates uses your bodyweight on a padded mat, often with small props like resistance bands, blocks and pilates balls. It's the most accessible form of pilates — no heavy equipment, lower price points, and easier to continue at home.

Honest, specific answers about this studio.
one of the 3 recent reviews mention the instructors in positive terms — words such as "knowledgeable", "attentive" and "encouraging" recur most frequently. Members citing specific cues, form corrections or named instructors is a strong sign of relationship-led teaching rather than transactional class delivery. If instructor depth matters for your decision (particularly for clinical or prenatal-focused pilates), this is a useful positive signal. One recent member put it this way: "The most friendly and knowledgeable team, as a complete beginner to pilates I immediately felt welcomed and loved how accessible the classes were, but nicely challenging too!" — Reann Radcliffe.
Google lists the studio as open until 20:00 or later on at least one weekday. Whether a class runs in that window is set by the studio — check its own timetable before planning an after-work session. Evening peaks at most UK pilates studios run from 18:00 to 19:30, with later slots usually quieter.
Practice varies by studio, so confirm the format when you get in touch. As a general guide across UK boutique reformer studios: newcomers are usually pointed to a beginner-tagged class or a 1-1 introduction rather than a mixed-level group, arriving 10-15 minutes early is normal, and grip socks are widely required (some studios sell them for £8-15). Form-fitting clothing lets the instructor see your alignment. The first class is the steepest learning curve — by the third session the equipment feels far more intuitive.
