I try and attend Jo’s Barre classes weekly and I love them. As someone who hadn’t done much physical activity in my 20s it was daunting to start up but Jo is friendly and approachable and whilst I still often dread going I always always always feel great and accomplished after class is complete! She challenges you but not in a scary way. Definitely would recommend her classes.
These classes are absolutely brilliant. Jo is so welcoming and accomodating to all fitness levels/injuries. The barre classes are great exercise and a real confidence-boost!
South Bristol Barre and Pilates offers 2 pilates disciplines. Each one is suited to different goals — read the breakdown below to see which fits.
Reformer pilates is performed on a specialised piece of equipment using adjustable spring resistance. It targets deeper stabilising muscles than mat-based pilates and is widely used for posture correction, core strength, injury rehabilitation and pre/postnatal training.
Mat pilates uses your bodyweight on a padded mat, often with small props like resistance bands, blocks and pilates balls. It's the most accessible form of pilates — no heavy equipment, lower price points, and easier to continue at home.
